A Raisin in the Sun
Nashville Repertory Theatre, 2017

The starting place for the lighting in this production were the evocative descriptions in Hansberry's script: she writes of dreary, dusky, sullen, and grey light, however, the play contains moments of joy as well as despair. The lighting shifted composition and color depending upon the time of day and emotional content of the scenes. The sound for the play included music from Chicago's thriving blues scene and also environmental sounds around the apartment: neighbors moving around in other apartments and sounds from the street of cars and children playing.

This design was recognized by First Night Nashville Theatre Awards for Outstanding Lighting Design in 2018.
